Gluten Free Eating In Joshua Tree, California
Sooooo, there aren't a ton of dining options in the hi-desert. I recently visited and before you go— definitely check out my Joshua Tree Travel Guide. Or as I like to refer to it, a list of the most instagramable spots. But luckily for you, there's actually quite a few healthy spots that make gluten free eating slightly easier. So let's go over your options of places right near the park.
Natural Sisters Cafe
This is a perfect breakfast or lunch spot. It's a TINY cafe featuring organic, plant based, and locally sourced food and drinks. They have fresh juices, sandwiches, salads, protein smoothies, breakfast items, and baked goods. I got the veggie omelet and I wasn't sad about it. We also tried juices and smoothes, which were very good.
Sidenote: the eco market next door is a perfect place to pick up any gluten free snacks, supplements, or health foods you might need for your trip!
Crossroads Cafe + Tavern
Crossroads Cafe has a great rustic + industrial vibe. With an extensive breakfast menu, featuring a lot of breakfast items, burgers, salads, sandwiches (they don't currently have gf bread however), soups and an extensive bar menu. They also have some vegan options, such as the polenta and veggies which I got (minus the sauce). It was terrible lighting so luckily someone else on the Internet ordered that too, hah.
La Copine
La Copine, technically located in Flamingo Heights, is the fanciest of your options. Minimalist, clean aesthetic with a menu consisting of seasonal and organic items from local farms. Owned by a husband + wife (a former "Chopped" contestant) duo, who purchased the land not long after honeymooning in Joshua Tree. This increasingly popular brunch spot and supper club, is a must stop for Coachella goers and Palm Spring tourists alike.
Pie For the People
This local pizza place is located right outside the Joshua Tree Park entrance. It a lot of interesting topping options and does have a gluten free crust!
